CHALLENGE
PROBLEM STATEMENT

Snap Raise is an online platform with a mission to make fundraising for student groups and teams easier.  For six years, the company has been customizing fan merchandise for coaches and team leaders to purchase and sell.

They need an easy way for busy coaches to send out news and market their promotional gear from within their product experience.

Campaign User Flow

Following our customer surveys, we synthesized our findings to create a persona.

User Mindset

The Obstructed Optimist

Working through a task flow, we attempted to understand the coaches and their struggles with marketing fan merchandise for their teams.

  • HE’S SHORT ON TIME
  • HE APPRECIATES SIMPLE STABILITY
  • HE’S ALWAYS ON HIS PHONE OR TABLET

"Convenience is key."

The user persona is a soccer coach and special education teacher.
“I don’t want to be a fundraising coach.  I just wanna coach.”

PROCESS

Analyzed competitors, created a user flow

Explored ideas during an initial brainstorming session with stakeholders

Drew six versions of a marketing dashboard

Tested all initial iterations by informal usability testing with seven participants, refined down to two sketches, then presented them to the stakeholders

Developed a wireframe flow mock-up, high fidelity prototypes, and usability tested them with participants before each iteration

For this project, we worked through a low fidelity wireframe user flow.  This ensured no screens, interactions, or steps in the process were overlooked.

Marketing Dashboard

From the main dashboard, the user can quickly review the analytics and, therefore, the progress of their fundraising campaigns.

Creating a Campaign

Within a few minutes, the user can create an iteration of the campaign by selecting a text message, flyer, newsletter, or social media post.  Here the user has easy access to pre-written templates from previous campaigns, readily available to customize.

Preview a Campaign

The user can preview the campaign, then easily post it or select email contacts when sending a newsletter.

Learnings

One of the lessons learned during this project was how to conceptualize and design a product for a large organization while ensuring a customer-centric perspective is maintained.  This was accomplished through a better understanding of how to balance the goals of an established brand with user needs.
